Propellerhead Reason

Propellerhead Reason is a leading-edge software studio. It is both powerful and easy to use. It features a full array of instruments and effects along with a large sound library. Reason is an excellent tool for creating instrumentals in any genre. On its own, Reason is not capable of recording audio, although it can be integrated with Propellerhead Record to form a full virtual studio with both sequencing and audio recording capability. Reason is cross-platform, which means that it installs and works identically on both Macintosh computers and PCs.

Reason in the Classroom

We teach Reason in our Level 1 & 2 courses. It is an excellent program for beginners and intermediate audio production students. We use Reason to introduce students to the rudiments of the software studio. We find that Reason is most effective when it is combined with Record, which adds audio recording, editing and more powerful mixing tools. For some students, this combination is a total solution for their audio production needs. Other students will want to expand their knowledge and capabilities with some of the other software tools that we teach.
