1. History & Theory

This first lesson begins with a detailed examination of the key recording tools and techniques of the last 50 years. The class continues with a detailed discussion of acoustic and psychoacoustic considerations in the studio.

2. Music Theory Fundamentals

Every producer must posses both an ear for music and incisive technical knowledge. This class is an introduction to rhythm, melody and harmony as they apply to music production. It forms an essential foundation and well as a springboard for further study.

3. High Resolution Virtual Instruments

A finished piece of music is only as good as its source sounds. This lesson introduces students to high-resolution virtual instruments exploited by top producers. Students will discover the advantages of these tools in combination with analog and acoustic sources.

4. High Resolution Recording Techniques

This supervised lab allows students an opportunity to record live sound sources through a high resolution analog signal path. This includes using a variety of top preamplifiers and microphones. Students will also learn valuable instrument-specific recording techniques.

5. High Resolution Processors

Dynamics processors and parametric equalizers are fundamental sound-shaping tools. This lesson illustrates the advantages of high-resolution plug-ins that model top outboard preamplifiers, compressors and equalizers, including vintage models.

6. High Resolution Effects

High resolution ambience and modulation effects are essential to creating great mixes. This class begins with an exploration of plug-ins that model top-flight echo and reverb. The lesson continues with an exploration of modulation and convolution effects.

7. Mastering Fundamentals

Mastering was once a highly esoteric art practiced and understood by only a small community of engineers. This section unveils the fundamental secrets of mastering. Students will learn how to use ultra high-resolution plug-ins and exceptionally accurate monitoring to master their music.

8. Mixing and Mastering Lab

In this final lab students get an opportunity to put their mixing and mastering skills to test. Our professional engineers are on-hand to guide students through mixing, mastering and listening tests.
